HISTORY OF THE LIVE-IN* Live-In, and get to know Jesus!
The Live-In is Christ-centred, and the teachings are basic Christian teachings that are acceptable to all Christian traditions. The primary focus and purpose of BackUp is to serve the Live-Inners. Whenever possible, a priest should be directly involved in each Live-In retreat - at least for celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Sunday Mass. The Live-In exists for the purpose of evangelization; it is an experience of God's love through Jesus, through an experience of the Live-In faith community. Our roots are Catholic Christian. (The Live-In is a Roman Catholic founded and based retreat; Roman Catholic based meaning that none of the teachings will be contrary to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.) We believe in the necessity and power of prayer, and that the Live-In is the work of the Holy Spirit. We continue to look to Him in all things. The Live-In is willing to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ wherever God sends us. The first Live-in weekend Retreat took place in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, in the Fall of 1972. Presently (2003), Live-Ins are held on a regular basis in 12 distinct Live-In Centres. As well, over the years, Live-Ins have been held on a one-time basis in a number of other centres. Father Clair Watrin, CSB, is the founder of the Live-In. The Live-In History book provides a condensed version of the history from day one Lethbridge, which led to the Live-Ins and the spread to each city. It has a chapter for each centre to tell its story. Each chapter includes many God-incidences, stories of healings, family restoration, special blessings, photos, etc. Click here for a backgrounder to this initiative, and for details on the project. If you want one please let us know! Free, while supplies last. A love offering is optional. |
